Principle of Ozone Air Disinfectors

Ozone air Disinfectant Principle
An ozone molecule consists of three oxygen atoms. Ozone is chemically highly unstable and tends to decompose readily. When ozone encounters pollutants in the air, the oxygen atom in the ozone molecule immediately “races” toward the pollutant particles, triggering a “burst” that effectively destroys these airborne contaminants. After ozone and the pollutants are “consumed together,” they are converted into carbon dioxide and water, while the ozone itself is reduced back to molecular oxygen. Ozone is a disinfectant. However, high concentrations of ozone can be harmful to human health; therefore, ozone air sterilizers should never be used in occupied spaces.
