During routine cleaning, the items should first be soaked and scrubbed in a detergent solution to remove grease, blood stains, and other organic contaminants, then thoroughly rinsed under running water. Instruments and other objects with joints, gear teeth, crevices, or other hard-to-reach areas should be opened as much as possible or disassembled for thorough brushing and scrubbing. After washing, all items should be dried thoroughly and then sorted and packaged according to their specific clinical requirements to prevent recontamination. Containers and transport equipment used for contaminated items must be strictly separated from those used for clean items and clearly labeled to avoid cross-contamination.
